Suicide First-Aid Workshop Outline
Being a Lifeguard: Suicide First-Aid Awareness & Response
This workshop is designed to help participants recognize signs of suicide risk, respond with confidence and compassion, and create safer pathways toward support and hope. Through awareness, education, understanding, and practical response strategies, participants will learn how to identify people in crisis, listen without judgment, and guide individuals toward safety and support.
The workshop explores the importance of breaking stigma and recognizing emotional, verbal, and behavioral warning signs that may indicate someone is struggling. Participants will gain insight into active listening, compassionate communication, and ways to reduce emotional intensity during difficult conversations. Practical tools such as grounding techniques, safety planning, and connecting individuals to supportive resources will also be introduced.
The heart of the workshop centers on the idea of “being a lifeguard” — offering presence, hope, and human connection to those experiencing emotional pain. Participants will leave with a greater understanding of suicide first-aid, increased confidence in supporting others, and encouragement to become part of a caring and compassionate community response.
“Awareness creates connection. Connection creates safety. Safety creates hope.”
Our Vision
We want to live in a world where people live with purpose, understanding the value they carry within themselves and the value they bring to others around them.
We believe every person matters deeply and has a meaningful place in this world.
Friends, You Are:
Irreplaceable
Unrepeatable
Highly Valued
You are not a burden.
Your absence would leave a space that could never truly be filled.
There is hope, purpose, and meaning for your life, even in difficult seasons.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
— Gospel of Matthew 11:28–29
